Stock-out

Is it possible to proactively anticipate stock-outs thanks to planning?

An APS (Advanced Planning & Scheduling) system is a real tool for demand management. With the material diagram, it is possible to analyse:

🔹 consumption

🔹 production

🔹 stock levels of different types of items: raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products.

APS allows you to visualise all raw materials and components, and to monitor stock trends over the long term to anticipate potential shortages.

By integrating forecasted consumption, raw material requirements can be anticipated, taking into account supply, safety stocks, alternative components, expiry dates… This optimises flow management and reduces the risk of shortages.

So YES, it is possible to use Ortems planning to anticipate stock-outs!
